BIOGRAFÍA

Nació en Bogotá en 1976. Debutó en el Metropolitan Opera House de Nueva York en el 2015 como el Dr. Bartolo en Il Barbiere di Siviglia, regresando en las siguientes temporadas, de nuevo en Il Barbiere di Siviglia y como el Dr. Bartolo en
Le Nozze di Figaro.

Ha sido solista invitado de Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá y la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia entre muchas otras. Algunas de las organizaciones y teatros con los que ha trabajado en diferentes producciones son la Ópera de Colombia,
Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real de Madrid, Palau de les Arts de
Valencia, ABAO, Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla, Teatro de la Zarzuela de Madrid, Teatro Municipal de Santiago
de Chile y la Opera National de Montpellier.

Estudió en el Curtis Institute of Music de Philadelphia con Armen Boyagian y desde entonces ha sido ganador de
varios concursos internacionales como Pavarotti Competition 1995, Operalia 2001, Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation 2001 y Toti Dal Monte 2004. En 2005 fue nombrado Artista Del Año de la Washington National Opera.

Entre las grabaciones que ha realizado se destacan el Requiem de Verdi (MTM) y la Octava Sinfonía de Mahler (EMI).

Valeriano Lanchas ha cantado al lado de Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Juan Pons, Juan Diego Flórez, Martha Senn, Anna Netrebko y Olga Borodina, entre muchos otros. Entre algunos de los directores con quienes ha trabajado
se encuentran Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel, Harry Bicket, Leonard Slatkin, Plácido Domingo, Christophe Rousset; así como los directores escénicos Tito Capobianco, Frank Corsaro, William Friedkin, Lluis Pasqual y Terry Gilliam, entre otros.

Este año Lanchas debutó en el Teatro de la Zarzuela de Madrid protagonizando El Sueño De Una Noche De Verano, de Joaquín Gaztambide. También interpretó el rol de Pistola en la nueva producción de Falstaff, bajo la dirección escénica
de Laurent Pelly en el Teatro Real de Madrid.

En septiembre de 2019 abrió la temporada del Palau de les Arts de Valencia como Bartolo en Le Nozze di Figaro.
Para el 2020, el barítono colombiano regresará al Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla en la ópera Agrippina.

Regresará al Metropolitan Opera de Ny en la temporada 2020- 2021 para cantar Bartolo en Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
En 2021 cantará el papel del Sacristán en Tosca en el Teatro Real de Madrid.

He was born in Bogotá in 1976. He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera House New York in 2015 as Dr. Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, coming back for the next seasons of Il Barbiere di Siviglia and as Dr. Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro.

He has been a guest soloist at Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia among others. Some of the organizations and theatres he has worked with in different productions are: Ópera de Colombia, Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real de Madrid, Palau de les Arts de Valencia, ABAO, Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla, Teatro de la Zarzuela de Madrid, Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile and Opéra National de Montpellier.

He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music of Philadelphia with Armen Boyagian, and since then he has been the winner of several singing contests: Pavarotti Competition 1995, Operalia 2001, Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation 2001 and Toti Dal Monte 2004.In 2005 was awarded as Artist of the Year at the Washington National Opera.

He has recorded The Verdi Requiem (MTM) and the Mahler 8th Symphony (EMI). Valeriano Lanchas has sung with Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Juan Pons, Juan Diego Flórez, Martha Senn, Anna Netrebko and Olga Borodina, among others. Some of the conductors he has worked with are: Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel, Harry Bicket, Leonard Slatkin, Plácido Domingo, Christophe Rousset; he has also worked with the stage directors: Tito Capobianco, Frank Corsaro, William Friedkin, Lluis Pasqual and Terry Gilliam, among others.

Mr. Lanchas made his debut at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid with the leading role of “Midsummer Night´s Dream” by Joaquín Gaztambide. He also played the role of Pistola in the new Falstaff production of the “Teatro Real de Madrid “ under the stage direction of Laurent Pelly. He opened the 2019-2020 Season at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia as Bartolo in “ Le Nozze di Figaro”. The Colombian baritone will return to the “Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla” singing in the opera Agrippina.

He will return to the Metropolitan Opera for the 2020-2021 Season to sing Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
In 2021 he will sing the “Sacristano” in Tosca at the Teatro Real in Madrid.

Er hat Aufnahmen vom Verdi Requiem mit MTM und Mahlers 8. Sinfonie mit EMI gemacht.

Mit der Hauptrolle in „Midsummer Night’s Dream“ von Joaquín Gaztmbide hatte Herr Lanchas sein Debüt am Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid. Ebenso sang er die Rolle des Pistola in der neuen Falstaff Produktion des Teatro Real de Madrid unter der Regie von Laurent Pelly. Er eröffnete die Spielzeit 2019-20 am Palau de les Artes in Valencia als Dr Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro .

2020 wird der kolumbianische Bariton in der Oper Agrippina am Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla.

Er wird wieder Bartolo in der Oper Il Barbiere di Siviglia an der Metropolitan Opera von New York Saison 2020-2021 singen.
In 2021 wird er il Sagrestano in der Oper Tosca am Teatro Real de Madrid singen.
